In atmosphere and stillness land and life unfold
I have always been drawn to the quiet things — the rhythm of cultivated fields, an animal standing in the distance, the changing light across a familiar landscape, a worn doorstep.
These paintings come from different places, but for me they belong to the same world. They have gathered slowly through looking, remembering and returning — encounters with land and life that somehow stayed with me.
I am interested in what lies just beneath the surface — what we notice, what we feel, and perhaps what we do not fully understand. There is a kinship there, between ourselves and the lives and places around us.
Painting is my way of making some small part of that visible.
